I think I am becoming a Photoshop junkie. Now that I am starting to master the art of really manipulating images, reality will never be the same. Recently I have placed people in scenes where they actually didn't physically appear, placed transparent images of people in a scene which made it very ethereal and dream like, and changed background scenes and clouds to better portray the feeling I wanted.
As an example, the above image was actually taken on two different days. The foreground is a long exposure of ocean and rock outside my hotel in Kauai, while the background was taken from my hotel room a day or two later. The ocean is given its "silky" appearance due to an exposure time of 2 to 3 minutes, and then the image is composed with the rain clouds and rainbow taken a day to two later.
Creating an image rather than documenting a scene is becoming more prevalent in my workflow, so that the horizons of my "reality" have expanded. Even I am looking forward to see what the future brings.
Live well and prosper
Dennis
